I’m fortunate to have worked with Shannon VanDeren for nearly a decade, specifically utilizing Additive Manufacturing (AM) within multiple vertical markets, ranging from Automotive to Medical. Shannon’s depth of knowledge within every process can only be overshadowed by her motivation to continually seek AM solutions within emerging vertical markets, most notably medical. Shannon’s contributions to founding and running the medical tracks at AMUG (the largest, oldest and most established user group within AM) simply highlights her thirst to share her vast knowledge with others. While serving as a leader of people and process in a leading Orthopedic Med-Tech company for over 30 years I had the distinct privilege to work with Shannon while expanding the capabilities of the divisional rapid prototyping services. Over the last ten years of my career, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to leverage Shannon as service bureau sales rep, an external consultant, and an internal team member and leader of technology strategy. As a service provider Shannon always proved herself as someone who owns the delivery of products and services throughout the whole spectrum of the customer experience. As a manager it was comforting to know that if Shannon had the effort, I could focus my attention elsewhere and our customer would be served.
